One-Time Events
Freedom Festival
If you’re looking for an iconic Greenwood event, this is it! Freedom Festival takes place on June 24th this year, and it’s a day full of activities starting at 4 PM with a grand parade. The day continues with a lineup of live music featuring The Doo, The Bishops, and Honor Our Heroes. There’s a kid zone, complete with inflatables, and plenty of food options. It all wraps up with a fantastic fireworks show at 10:15 PM.
Airport Day
Do you love aviation, history, or just want the adrenaline rush of flying? This is the event for you! Airport Day takes place at the Indy South Greenwood Airport and features all kinds of aviation-themed fun. You can find food, exhibits, and activities that include free plane rides for kids from age 8 to 17 as well as paid rides on other aircraft and helicopters. You can also see some history with World War II aircraft and other vehicles, complete with re-enactors.
Concert Series
Greenwood Summer Concert Series
Take a trip to Craig Park for the city’s summer concert series. Every concert takes place at the Greenwood Amphitheater at 7 PM. Dates start in June and go through August. When you visit, you can expect not only live music but also a variety of food vendors. You are welcome to bring your own chairs, blankets, and coolers of family-friendly food and beverages.
Greenwood Park Mall Summer Concert Series
Combine shopping and live music with a trip to the Greenwood Park Mall. They host concerts at their outdoor fountain Thursdays in June and July from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Seating is limited, so you’ll want to get there plenty early and bring your own chairs. Before, during, and after the concert you can also walk around to vendor booths and enjoy giveaways and lawn games.
Mallow Run Winery 2023 Picnic Concert Series
Visit Mallow Run Winery to enjoy some live music and enjoy some of Mallow Run Winery’s seasonal creations. You can come Saturday evenings and even some Sunday afternoons this summer. There are some free, family-friendly events and also ticketed events. Many of the nights feature food trucks and wine for purchase. Other Events
Greenwood Indiana Farmers Market
There’s nothing quite like fresh, local produce, and you can find it in abundance at the farmers market in Greenwood. Stop by from 8 AM to 12 noon starting the last Saturday in April and ending the last Saturday in September. Dogs on leashes are welcome to attend! Movies in the Park
Are you notorious for making it to the end of summer and forgetting to check out all the fun? Here’s an early fall option just for you, while the weather is still perfect for enjoying the outdoors. This event takes place at two Greenwood locations, the Amphitheater and Old City Park. It’s totally free and will have family-friendly features for all to enjoy on September 9th and September 30th.
